Where Can I Hit Balls Under Cover Near Irving?

Irving is where a lot of DFW's business gets done, and a lot of it is done by people who flew in that morning. If you are in Las Colinas for the week, staying near DFW Airport, or you live in Irving and want a range that does not close for weather, Golf Center of Arlington is a single highway away.

Straight answer: covered and heated, not enclosed

Golf Center of Arlington is an outdoor driving range. Eighteen of its hitting bays are under a roof, heated in cold weather, fitted with Power Tee automatic teeing systems and a Toptracer screen in every bay. You hit real balls onto the range toward 12 color-coded target greens. There is no sealed indoor hitting room and no projector simulator.

For a traveler, that distinction matters in one direction only: you get real ball flight and real distances, tracked, in weather that would otherwise cancel the session. Twenty-eight natural-grass hitting areas sit alongside the covered bays for golfers who want turf, tracked with Toptracer GO on a phone; the grass is open air and depends on conditions on a wet day.

From Irving, Las Colinas and the airport

Golf Center of Arlington is on NE Green Oaks Blvd, about two miles west of SH 360, about two miles north of the Arlington Entertainment District. SH 360 runs south from the DFW Airport area straight into Arlington, which makes the geography simple.

The directions page shows the entrance. If you are timing a visit around a flight, remember the range is open Monday–Saturday 8 AM–11 PM and Sunday 8 AM–10 PM, and the last bucket is sold one hour before closing.

Traveling without clubs?

Plenty of visitors from Las Colinas hotels show up with nothing but a pair of sneakers. Bring your own clubs if you have them; if you do not, ask the staff about options when you arrive. Practice balls come with every bucket, and the Power Tee system tees the ball for you, so there is nothing else to carry. Golf Center of Arlington hosts corporate team-building, client appreciation, retreats and holiday parties, and the covered bays make those plans weather-proof. Toptracer packages run games like Closest to the Pin, Long Drive and Virtual Golf on courses such as Pebble Beach and St Andrews, with leaderboards and no golf experience required. Packages are hourly or half-day.

The property also has an indoor private event room with 24 seats and flexible layouts, used for meetings, presentations, awards, check-in and raffles, plus a gazebo area outside. What a session costs

Bucket prices are the same in a covered bay as on the grass. A medium bucket of 60 balls is $21, or $15 for members. A large bucket of 90 is $28, or $20 for members. An extra-large bucket of 120 is $35, or $25 for members. From 9 AM to 6 PM daily, regular bucket prices are 30% off when you mention the special at check-in, and from 8 to 9 AM the range is self-service with everyone paying member pricing at the dispenser.

Weather and the drive from Irving

The covered bays stay open through rain, and they are heated when a cold front comes through. Summer sessions happen in the shade of the roof, and the range is lit at night for practice after a day of meetings. The one condition that pauses play is lightning nearby, which staff handle on site; if there is a storm over the Metroplex, call 817-469-9005 before leaving Irving.
