What do kids actually learn in four days?
The camp teaches real golf skills, but everything is delivered through games, skill challenges and friendly competitions to keep kids engaged. Over the four days campers work on:
- Full swing fundamentals: grip, stance, posture and a swing they can repeat
- Putting and short game: the shots that finish a hole
- Golf rules and etiquette: safety, taking turns, respecting the course and other players
- On-course strategy: picking a target, choosing a club, thinking through a hole
- Confidence and sportsmanship: competing hard and being a good winner and loser
Instruction takes place on the same facility adults use: 18 covered Toptracer bays, where kids can watch their ball trace on the screen after every shot, plus the natural-grass hitting area and the putting and chipping greens. Seeing a shot's carry distance on a screen is a big motivator for a 10-year-old. The bays also run Toptracer game modes such as Closest to the Pin, Long Drive and Points Game, which give the coaches a ready-made way to turn a skills block into a competition with a leaderboard the kids can see.
