Can You Book a Private Golf Lesson for a Group of Kids?

A group of kids learning golf together is easier to organize than most parents expect. Golf Center of Arlington books private group junior lessons by appointment, teaches them on covered bays that run rain or shine, and provides clubs for anyone who doesn't have them. Here's who books them, what the lesson covers and how to set one up.

Who books a private group junior lesson?

Any group of kids who'd rather learn together than one at a time. Golf Center of Arlington lists these as the most common groups it teaches, and each one gets a lesson customized to the ages and experience in the room.

Kids are grouped by age and ability, so a mixed-age group is fine: the instructor adjusts the stations and challenges so a 6-year-old and a 12-year-old are each working on something appropriate. The full junior program, including one-on-one lessons, is described on our junior golf lessons page.

What does a group lesson cover?

Every lesson is customized to the group's age and skill level. A typical private group session at Golf Center of Arlington moves through these stages.

1. Warm-up. Easy movement and practice swings to get everyone loose and settled.
2. Grip, stance and posture. The fundamentals, taught with the whole group and then checked one kid at a time.
3. Full swing. Real balls on the Toptracer bays. Each bay's screen shows the shot's flight and carry distance, which is a huge hit with kids and makes a friendly long-drive contest easy to run.
4. Chipping. Short shots to targets on the chipping green.
5. Putting. The skill every kid can succeed at on day one, and the one that decides most of their future scores.
6. Games and skill challenges. Closest-to-the-pin, target games and team competitions that turn the lesson into play.
7. Golf etiquette. Safety around swinging clubs, taking turns, staying quiet while someone hits, and looking after the greens.
8. Personalized feedback. A quick word for each child and parent about what went well and what to practice.

Sessions typically run 60–90 minutes depending on the program and age group. Practice balls are included in lessons.

How is a group lesson different from a private lesson or the summer camp?

How do you book a private group lesson?

Private group lessons are scheduled by appointment on a day and time that works for your group. Contact Golf Center of Arlington with the basics and the staff will match you with an available slot.

• Whether they're first-timers, have played a little, or already take lessons
• Which days and times work (weekday daytime slots suit homeschool schedules)
• Whether anyone needs clubs
• Whether you want to add mini golf, the gazebo or the indoor room for a party

On the day, plan to arrive about ten minutes early and check in at the clubhouse. Staff will direct the group to the bays reserved for the lesson and sort out clubs for any child who needs them. Parents are welcome to watch; the covered bays and putting green are steps from the clubhouse, and the snack bar is open for anyone waiting.

Can you turn a group lesson into a birthday party?

Lesson first, then mini golf and cake

Yes, and it's one of the most popular ways to use a group lesson. The kids get a 60–90 minute lesson with games and challenges, then move to the 36-hole mini golf course. Golf Center of Arlington's Mini Golf Party is $8 per guest with the guest of honor free, every attendee gets a coupon for a future visit, and the minimum is 12 guests.

For a place to eat, the Gazebo area or the indoor room (24 seats) can be added for $120 each as a 2.5-hour rental. You bring your own food, cake, plates, candles and decorations; all beverages must be purchased at the snack bar. A 50% non-refundable deposit holds the date, and if the weather turns, the next available date is offered.

What should the kids bring?

Not much. Comfortable clothes, sneakers or golf shoes, water and a good attitude. Clubs are optional: equipment is available if a child doesn't have any, and Golf Center of Arlington sells quality junior golf clubs at the clubhouse if a parent wants to buy a set afterward.

Where and when do group lessons happen?

All junior instruction takes place at Golf Center of Arlington, 1301 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006, about two miles north of the Arlington Entertainment District and an easy drive from Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Irving and Dallas. The facility is open Monday–Saturday 8 AM–11 PM and Sunday 8 AM–10 PM, and group lessons are scheduled by appointment inside those hours.
