Where Can I Get Mental Game Coaching for Golf in Arlington?
Golf Center of Arlington, 1301 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006, offers in-person mental performance coaching for golfers of any age, with a strong focus on juniors and high-school players. It starts with a free 30-minute consultation, followed by 50-minute sessions in packages of 5 ($150 each), 10 ($125 each) or 15 ($100 each).

Arlington has a lot of junior golfers: middle-schoolers finding the game, high-school players chasing a varsity spot, and seniors hoping a coach at the next level notices them. What most of them share is a swing that is better than their scores. That gap is mental, and it can be coached right here in town.
What does mental performance coaching mean for a young golfer?
Mental performance coaching identifies the parts of a player's thinking that are holding back their performance, then teaches them ways to think that get more out of the ability they already have. Instead of losing strokes to frustration, doubt or a wandering mind, the player learns skills: how to prepare for a shot, how to reset after a bad one, how to stay in the present when a round is going well or badly.
For years this was something only professional athletes did. Today college, high school, junior high and even younger athletes use mental performance coaches, and golf is a natural fit because there is so much time between shots to think. Coaching at Golf Center of Arlington is done in person, at the facility, where the range and short game area are available to practice what was discussed. How do I know if my junior golfer needs it?
Parents usually notice before the player does. If several of these sound familiar, the mental side is probably where the next few strokes are.
- Practice-round scores are consistently lower than tournament scores.
- One bad hole spirals into a bad nine; the car ride home is silent.
- They play well with friends and tighten up when a coach or a parent is watching.
- They rush when nervous: fast walk, fast setup, fast swing.
- They can hit every shot on the range and struggle to pick one on the course.
- They are talented enough that "just relax" is no longer useful advice.
None of these are swing problems. A lesson will not fix a player who rushes when nervous, and more range balls will not teach a teenager how to let go of a triple bogey. Those are thinking habits, and thinking habits respond to coaching the same way a grip does: explain it, practice it, test it under pressure.
Mental coaching is not a sign something is wrong. It is the same kind of investment as a swing lesson, aimed at the part of the game that decides scores once the swing is good enough. Mental coaching is now common among competitive junior players, not just professionals.
How does coaching fit around school, practice and tournaments?
Sessions are scheduled at the facility, around your calendar
Every session runs 50 minutes and takes place at Golf Center of Arlington, which is open seven days a week, Monday–Saturday 8 AM–11 PM and Sunday 8 AM–10 PM. That makes it practical to schedule after school, on a weekend morning, or on the way to practice.
Because the range is right there, a session can move from a conversation to a bucket of balls. A player can practice a pre-shot routine on the covered Toptracer bays, then take it to the 28 natural-grass hitting areas or the free short game area, where the coach can see whether the skill holds up when the lie is not perfect.
The junior golf program at the same facility works with ages 5 to 17, grouped by age and ability, so swing instruction and mental coaching can be coordinated rather than competing for a teenager's limited free time. See junior golf lessons at Golf Center of Arlington.

What do the mental coaching packages cost?
Everything starts with a free 30-minute initial consultation. Bring your junior, talk through what happens in tournaments, and see whether working together makes sense. After that there are three packages, all built on 50-minute sessions.
5 sessions: $150 each
The most important mental skills that lead to improvement. A good fit for a player heading into a single season who needs a routine and a way to reset after mistakes.
10 sessions: $125 each
The mental skills, plus a training plan, practice-environment training and player-specific targeted improvement. This is where range sessions get rebuilt to look like tournament golf.
15 sessions: $100 each
The most comprehensive package: everything above plus competitive observation, so the coach sees how the player actually behaves when the score counts.

Every player is different, but the early sessions follow a recognizable arc.
- Find the leak. The coach and player work out which thoughts and habits are costing strokes: first-tee nerves, anger after a bad shot, thinking about the score, comparing to a playing partner.
- Build one skill at a time. A pre-shot routine, a breathing pattern, a way to talk to yourself between shots. Each is taught, then practiced, then tested on the range.
- Take it to practice. In the 10- and 15-session packages, practice-environment training turns ordinary buckets into pressure practice: Toptracer games with consequences, one-ball drills, random-club practice.
- Take it to competition. With competitive observation in the 15-session package, the coach watches the player in a real competitive setting and adjusts the plan to what actually happened rather than what the player remembers.
Should we pair mental coaching with lessons or a TPI screen?
For a serious junior, the three usually work together. Our golf lessons follow the Golf Integrated Skills Program, and the advanced Refinement Program already includes mental preparation, tournament preparation and full swing mechanics on TrackMan. A TPI screening ($120, 16 strength and mobility tests) checks whether a growing body can physically make the moves a coach is asking for, which matters a lot for teenagers whose bodies change every season.
Ages matter here too. The junior program takes players from 5 to 17, but a nine-year-old learning to chip and a seventeen-year-old playing district tournaments need very different things. Mental coaching is typically the last piece added, once a young player is competing and the results have started to matter to them. For where to begin with a younger child, see what age a kid can start golf lessons.
A sensible order for a high-school player: TPI screen to rule out physical limits, lessons for the swing, and mental coaching once the swing is good enough that scores are being decided between the ears. If you are not sure where your player sits, the free consultation is the place to ask. Golfers of all levels are welcome, no membership is required, and walk-ins to the range are welcome every day.

Frequently asked questions
Is my child too young for mental game coaching?
Mental performance coaching is used by athletes from junior high and younger through college and professional levels, so age alone is rarely the issue. What matters is whether the player is competing, wants to improve and can engage with a coach in conversation. The free 30-minute consultation at Golf Center of Arlington is where you and the coach decide together whether it is the right time.
Does mental coaching replace golf lessons for a high-school player?
No. Lessons build the swing; mental coaching builds the ability to use that swing when the score counts. At Golf Center of Arlington both happen at the same facility, so they can be coordinated. Many high-school players do swing lessons through the Golf Integrated Skills Program during the off-season and add mental coaching as the tournament season approaches.
How much does mental game coaching cost in Arlington?
At Golf Center of Arlington the initial 30-minute consultation is free. Sessions are 50 minutes and priced by package: 5 sessions at $150 each, 10 sessions at $125 each, or 15 sessions at $100 each. The larger packages add a training plan, practice-environment training, player-specific improvement and, at 15 sessions, competitive observation.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions are held in person at Golf Center of Arlington, 1301 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006. The facility has 18 covered and heated Toptracer bays, 28 natural-grass hitting areas and a free short game area with any bucket purchase, so a session can move from discussion to practice without leaving the property. Sessions are scheduled by appointment.
Can a junior use Toptracer to practice mental skills between sessions?
Yes, and it is one of the best tools for it. Toptracer games such as Closest to the Pin, Approach Challenge and Virtual Golf attach a consequence to every swing, which is exactly what a junior needs to rehearse a pre-shot routine under pressure. A medium bucket of 60 balls is $21, or $15 for members, and buckets are 30% off from 9 AM to 6 PM daily.
