Before or after the game: a two-hour stop

Most visitors staying in the district have a fixed window: the hours before gates open, or the evening after the game. Here is how a two-hour visit at Golf Center of Arlington usually runs.

1. Drive north about ten minutes. Leave the stadium area before or after the main traffic surge. Green Oaks Blvd is north of the district, away from the event lots.
2. Buy a bucket at the counter. Medium is 60 balls for $21, large is 90 for $28, extra large is 120 for $35. Mention the 30% off special if you arrive between 9 AM and 6 PM.
3. Pick a covered bay. Bays are first come, first served. The Power Tee sets each ball for you, and the Toptracer screen tracks every shot.
4. Play a Toptracer game. Closest to the Pin or Long Drive takes about 20 minutes and works even if half your group has never held a club.

A family day: Six Flags, then mini golf

Two courses, 36 holes, one price

Families visiting Six Flags Over Texas often want something lower-key for the second half of the day. Golf Center of Arlington's mini golf is two 18-hole outdoor courses on a landscaped nature course with bridges and rock formations. Clubs, colorful balls and scorecards are included, and toddlers 3 and under play free with a paying adult.

Right now, during the course remodel, there is a limited-time special of $8 per person for unlimited mini golf all day. Kids who want to swing a real club can share a covered bay with a parent and play Angry Birds or Go Fish on the Toptracer screen. There is no age minimum for the range, and the Power Tee means nobody has to bend down to tee up a ball.

What if it rains during your visit?

Texas weather turns fast. If a storm rolls through before a game or a concert, a covered bay is one of the few places near the stadiums where you can stay active and dry without going indoors to a mall or a movie.
