Where Can I Use a TrackMan Launch Monitor in Arlington?

TrackMan is the launch monitor you see on tour broadcasts and in serious teaching studios. In Arlington you do not need a private club or a fitting studio to use one. Golf Center of Arlington, a public range serving the city since 1986, runs supervised TrackMan sessions on its outdoor range, and this page covers where, how and what you get.

Where exactly is the TrackMan in Arlington?

Golf Center of Arlington sits at 1301 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006, about two miles north of the Arlington Entertainment District and minutes from AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Six Flags Over Texas and Texas Live!. It is near River Legacy Park and close to the Texas Rangers Golf Club if you want to follow a session with a full round.

The TrackMan unit is not parked in a back room. Sessions run outdoors on the same range where 18 covered, heated Toptracer bays and 28 natural-grass hitting areas face 12 color-coded target greens. How does a TrackMan session work here?

TrackMan is a Doppler-radar system. It reads the changing frequency of microwaves reflected off the club and the ball, much like a Doppler weather radar, so it sees the clubhead before impact and the ball after it, and records your swing video at the same time.

3. Hit with the supervisor. A professional supervisor runs the radar, watches your swings and explains what the numbers mean as they appear.
4. Receive your report. At the end of the session you get a web report by email with all the data and swing videos, ready to share with an instructor.

What does the TrackMan report show?

Every recorded swing produces ten metrics. Half describe the club, half describe the ball, and together they explain why each shot flew the way it did.

How is a TrackMan session different from a golf lesson?

A TrackMan session is measurement with a professional supervisor: you hit, the radar records, the supervisor explains the numbers and you leave with the report and video. A golf lesson is instruction: an instructor changes what you do and checks that the change holds. The two work best in order, and many Golf Center of Arlington golfers use the session as the first step.

How do you get the most out of the session?

• Warm up before the radar time starts. The short-game area and a small bucket on a Toptracer bay are enough. Cold first swings produce numbers you will not recognize.
• Bring one or two questions. "Why does my driver slice?" or "How far do I really carry each iron?" gives the supervisor a target for the session.
• Hit the clubs you play, not the ones you wish you played. The report is only useful if it describes your actual bag.
• Ask for averages, not best shots. Several swings per club give a pattern you can trust on the course.
• Open the report the same day. Watch the swing videos while the feel is fresh, then save the link for a before-and-after later in the season.

Is TrackMan the only tracking technology on the range?

No. Every covered bay and grass hitting area at Golf Center of Arlington has a Toptracer screen, and Toptracer GO adds mobile-app tracking on 28 additional outdoor grass tees and mats. Toptracer is camera-based, included with any bucket, and shows ball flight, carry, distance, ball speed, launch angle and accuracy, plus games and virtual courses. It does not measure the club, so club speed, attack angle, path, face, dynamic loft, spin rate and smash factor come only from a TrackMan session.

What does it cost?

Golf Center of Arlington does not publish a TrackMan session price, so see current pricing when you book. Everything else is on the price list: bucket prices from $21, member prices from $15, a $129-a-year or $18-a-month membership, and $10 off your first visit when you join the rewards list. No membership is required to book TrackMan, and the range is open to the public seven days a week, rain or shine.
